WHY DO U TAPE?
Videotaping and analog A/V integration are fundamental for projects at madDispatch. Recording to physical tape ensures that the content we film stays protected on independent mechanical formats- an IP safeguard for music media that can't be done without analog.
There's something about seeing yourself on TV that unlocks a feeling of novelty and nostalgia at the same time. Live music experiences exist because of fans that are looking for environmental engagement. madDispatch's activations are designed to spark curiosity, enhance the artists' unique productions, and bring attendees' worlds together one tape at a time.
(Cause it's real fun)
HOW DO U TAPE?
VHS videoshoots can look however you need them to. Typically, we use two Panasonic Reporter Cams for larger productions (Live performances, Interviews, Music Videos, PSAs) and use a spread of smaller VHS-C /DV cams for smaller projects (behind the scenes footage, shorter content/promotional videos).
Both capture to the tape, which is then digitized for your editing use via an RCA/VCR to HDMI converter.
Live VHS Activations (LVAs) are modular and can be arranged to best compliment each unique venue space. LVAs involve the same equipment we would use for a studio videoshoot, allowing audiences & artists to explore analog effects and interact with the monitors in real time.
Depending on event type and venue layout, cameras can be directed at either the crowd or the performance.
Original CD copies & buring services may also be provided to the artist(s) for physical media distribution and sales at madDispatch LVAs. See our CD menu.
